On Gurkgatan is a building that was originally built as a school – Åkeshall School. Today, the property is privately owned. The facade has a relief artwork in brick with a motif reminiscent of the school period. It was designed by artist Anita Brusewitz-Hansson and was produced in 1989. Gert and Roland Widerberg carried out the brick construction work. The red bricks come from the Östra Grevie brickyard.

Anita Brusewitz-Hansson was educated at Konstfack – the University of Arts, Crafts and Design – and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. She has mainly produced sculptures in bronze and brick. Her work can be seen in places such as Stockholm, Karlskrona and Sölvesborg.
