There is an open gathering place in the block named “Blomstra”, meaning “Bloom”, in the newly-built “Trädgårdsstaden” area, meaning the “Garden district”. The housing association HSB has invested in a sculpture for this location.

The artist Bie Norling was commissioned to create the artwork. Taking her cue from the neighborhood’s name, she has designed a decoration in the form of a bouquet of flowers. It is made of stainless steel and plexiglass, materials that Bie Norling often uses in her sculptures.

Bie Norling, born in 1937, has been painting and sculpting for over fifty years. She often adapts the artwork to the current location, which is also apparent in the two previous works of art she has made in Ystad: The telephone kiosk at the intersection of Lingsgatan and Maria Munthes gata, and the Untitled sculpture group in the Regiment area.
